2018 a thought from our admins

Well 2018 is almost over and I can honestly say that this year seems to have flown by so fast I sometimes feel as though I missed half of it.

Since we launched Living Way Church Website we have spent more time changing its format, layout and even hosting every few Months right up until almost the end of 2017. For most of 2018 we haven’t made many changes to its layout and that’s partly a good thing and a bad one.

First the good, we switched to our current host Rubberduck Hosting and have had an up time of 99.9% and we have the lowest hosting fees ever. I have taken a bit of a break apart from the hours I spent for GDPR compliance (a nightmare law). We were able to concentrate on our Live-streams more considering we were the first Rhondda church to introduce this it’s nice to watch it grow.

Now the bad, because I’ve taken the break I know the site needs some changes to keep it modern and interactive and a place you guys want to visit.

To end 2018 we have a major update coming that unfortunately won’t affect anything you see when you visit however, I hope that these changes will help push this site forwards as we start 2019. Personally I would like to thank everyone who’s used our site and hope you enjoy the changes we have planned.

May you be blessed and have a truly Merry Christmas!!

Connections – Prayer

How’s your connection?

Instantly when we think of prayer we think of concentrated faces, beaten brows and lots of aches in the knee region the following day.

In its simplest form prayer is communicating with God Almighty about absolutely anything.

Yup! God, the maker of heaven and earth is interested in everything that I get up to or concerns/ affects my life.

This may seem too good to be true and yet there are men and women in the Bible who show that even they “couldn’t quite believe it!”

I’m reminded of the psalms

“What is man that you are mindful of him?” Psalm 8:4

We all love to be connected.

Where I live there is an telephone exchange nearby. I see people’s concerned faces as an engineer pulls up!!!!

Yet it needs the be looked after, maintained and even upgraded on occasion.

Our connected lifestyle relies on connectedness to these exchanges to communicate with each other or just to access entertainment.

Prayer is connectedness with our Heavenly Father.

It may need an upgrade through the applications of the Word (Bible), the Spirit (praying on all occasions in the Spirit) or even with other believers (which produces Faith).

Maintenance is key to a clear and stable connection. It no wonder the Bible tells us to “Pray on all occasions”

Ephesians 6:18

Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.

Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words.

Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon.

In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare.

Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” (MSG)

I’m sure we all can agree. Our connection to Christ is vital to a living the life which we have been called to.

The truth is, a connection to God is something He (God), also wants.

He wants to be a clear voice in our lives. Rather than a voice hidden amongst the ‘static’ of life or a even dropped line.

Don’t settle for a second rate service. Invest in your connection!!

LWC Thought of the day

Thought of the day

We all could do with more of Jesus shining through our lives – me included. The good news is that even though I falter and fail Him, He remains faithful!

2 Timothy 2:11-13

This is a faithful saying:

For if we died with Him,

We shall also live with Him.

If we endure,

We shall also reign with Him.

If we deny Him,

He also will deny us.

If we are faithless,

He remains faithful;

He cannot deny Himself.

Truth is that although small in comparison to creation. All we have, all we are and all that is ahead, is down to His Amazing Grace and Great Mercy!

“Without Him we are nothing, but, with Him we have everything that we need.”

Advent challenge day 1

I am doing the Bible Society’s advent challenge……

1st stop: Judah, c. 750 BC‘The Lord says, “Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are one of the smallest towns in Judah, but out of you I will bring a ruler for Israel, whose family line goes back to ancient times.”’ Micah 5.2
Hundreds of years before Jesus arrived on earth, his birth was promised through the prophets, like in these words from Micah, who listened to what God was saying and shared with the people. The Bible tells us Jesus fulfilled 353 prophecies of the Old Testament. Sometimes we have to wait for things. As Advent begins, your first challenge is to exercise patience. You can do this however you want but I am doing this by allowing people in front of me in traffic! – Helen
